WRITING TIPS

The following blog is intended to help you with your writing. As you already know, we all need some time to prepare our texts. Before you start, think about the following:

- 👪Who is the text addressed to? My teacher, a friend of mine, readers of a magazine, bloggers...?

- What is the purpose? To talk about myself in an informal way, to try to convince someone,...?
- What format is it? An informal e-mail, a formal letter, a story, a newspaper article...?

To begin with, you have to start with a very simple task:

1. Host a blog and post your first entry entitled ABOUT ME:

⇒Introduction: Oneor twoparagraphs giving personal information (name, age, place where you live, family members, pets,...)

⇒Body

  • One☝or two✌paragraphs talking about one or two of your hobbies or free-time activities 🏀🎺and personal qualities (sporty, adventurous, competitive,...)😎💪😚
  • One☝paragraph talking about your favourite hobby 🎤🎥or free-time activity while relating it to other of your personal qualities.😭😘
⇒Closing/conclusion: One optional paragraph giving some extra information about you which you consider important (I'm a chocolate addict 🍫🍫) and a closing paragraph 🔑addressing your potential readers.📘

ABOUT ME

MAGGIE

About me.... Well, to start, I'm presently teaching on the 3rd of ESO grade. I'm an English teacher. If you don't know me and you want to recognise me easily, just look for a woman with long curly dark reddish hair, that's me!

Relating to my family, I've got two sisters and we all live in different towns. My younger sister, Diana, lives in Barberà with her husband and her two children. My middle sister, Ana, lives with her boyfriend in Barcelona city, in Poble Nou neighbourhood (the best neibourhood in all the city), and I live with my husband and my little son Marc in Santa Coloma de Cervelló, a beautiful, small town near Barcelona.

In the picture on the right, there are four women. One is not my sister. Do you know who it is?

You got it! That was in London. I love travelling. In fact, I've been to many countries such as England, the USA, Scotland, Ireland, The Netherlands, Egypt, Tunisia, ..... That shows that I'm very adventurous, though I have to admit that I may sometimes feel homesick if I am abroad for too long. One of the reasons why I like travelling is because I can practice my English. I speak English very fluently and teaching helps me, obviously, but I must speak with native speakers if I want to keep my English really alive and up-to-date.
Another of my hobbies is dancing. I am a bit sporty, so I love going to the gym. I'm presently attending zumba classes, which I really enjoy! I'm very sociable, therefore, I have met many people in the gym and made a lot of new friends.

However, my favourite free-time activity is singing, because I'm very artistic and I think I'm a bit talented! Actually, I sing in a rock band just for fun. We are 5. Toni plays the guitar and the piano, Luis plays the guitar, Rivi plays the drums and Keegan plays the base. They're all simply great!

Finally, for those who still don't know me too well, I would also add to my qualities that I'm quite easy-going, very cheerful and that my friends consider me a very funny person!

That's all for now. I hope that you all enjoy this blog. Try to host yours and write in English!
